Engineering Project Case Studies

A Wrist-Mounted Personal Safety Device:

Under the direction of an independent innovator, UNSPACE developed a discreet, wearable personal alarm device called “Siren.” Worn on the wrist as an attachment to a smartwatch case, the design eliminates the wear and tear associated with keychain or bag-pocket storage and ensures rapid accessibility in high-stress situations.

UNSPACE provided conceptualization, 3D design, material recommendations and the full creation of the internal electronic components to bring this product from paper to reality.

“From helping refine my idea, to conceptualizing the invention, to bringing it to life - UNSPACE was a crucial  step in my product’s lifecycle. The professionalism and experience of the team was genuinely indispensable.”

-Adrian Sanchez Loehff of WatchYoSelf

A Mobile Trash Grinding and Recycling Unit:

In 2024, UNSPACE partnered with Mobi Waste Inc. to refine the alpha prototype of their mobile trash grinding unit, with a focus on improving overall operational efficiency. UNSPACE provided electrical rewiring, system teardown, component research, multiple iterations of system testing and data validation, as well as engineering drawings, custom part files and a bill of materials for a full retrofit of multiple machines.

This work played a critical role in advancing the design toward a fully realized beta prototype, setting the stage for broader deployment and scalability.

“Working with UNSPACE was easy! Their team of engineers delivered in the promised time frame! Communication with them was excellent! Thank you Unspace for helping launch our company!”

-Stacy Richardson of Mobi Waste Inc.

Alpha Design of a Fully Custom UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)

In 2023 and 2024, UNSPACE collaborated with Horizon Aerobotics on the development of their custom HX1 drone, a high-performance commercial UAV with best in class technology and onboard machine vision capabilities.

The UNSPACE engineering team developed a distinctive unibody structure in a unique V-body configuration, giving the drone both functional advantages and standout visual appeal. In parallel with structural design, UNSPACE engineers advised on material selection for key components and coordinated with electronic engineers to strategically position internal electronics and develop custom PCBs that seamlessly integrated the entire system.

UNSPACE’s contributions to this project helped Horizon Aerobotics advance from a rough concept to a functional alpha prototype capable of flight.

“Horizon Aerobotics has relied on Unspace for quality engineering services since 2023. As trusted collaborators in the development and deployment of complex UAS and AI solutions, their contributions make the projects we work on together better.”

-Denver Hopkins, CEO of Horizon Aerobotics
